According to the NSS, it has paid in full the allowances of nearly 98 per cent of service personnel.

A statement issued and signed by the Acting Executive Director of the Scheme, Mustapha Ussif said if for any reason service personnel have not received their monthly allowances, then it is blamed on the fact that such have already done their national service or are not eligible to receive payment as service personnel.

It further admonished service personnel who for genuine reasons have not received their allowances to follow due process and notify their respective District and Regional Offices of the Scheme for redress.

The statement follows a report by Citifmonline.com on Tuesday, January 9, that some service personnel who have not been paid their allowances besieged the headquarters of the Scheme to demand what was due them.

This, according to the statement, was untrue and that work at the Secretariat on that day was conducted in usual manner without any record of interference.

“Management wishes to categorically state that service personnel who have duly been registered, biometrically verified, deployed and are at post would duly be paid their service allowances,” the statement added.
