UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi will unveil details of the first ever edition of Africa E-Commerce Week, when
he briefs the media at the Hilton Nairobi at 11 am on 23 July 2018.
The announcement of the landmark event, taking place in Nairobi from 10 to 14 December this year, is part of UNCTAD’s ongoing work to promote and
understand the opportunities offered by e-commerce and the digital economy for developing countries in Africa and elsewhere. The Africa
E-Commerce Week builds on UNCTAD’s successful global E-Commerce Week conferences and its eTrade for all initiative.
Dr. Kituyi’s press briefing comes after he speaks at the African Union E-Commerce Conference in Nairobi on 23 July. The main objective of this
23-25 July conference is to provide a platform to enhance understanding of the current state of e-commerce in Africa.
