The Minister first stopped at Axim where the President assured the people last September to fix their deplorable road network to create more access and market linkages.

At a durbar at the Victory Park in Axim, Mr Amoako Atta officially cut the sod to commence work and said the government was prepared to fix all road networks as a step of opening most communities and rural areas up to developments.

The initial 6.5 kilometres Axim town roads, which would be completed within 12 months is being constructed by Justmoh Constructions at a of cost GHC12million.

Mr Amoako Atta said the President was a man of his words and that the government would fulfil every promise made to the people of Ghana.

"Let me tell you that the contract for the project was awarded in October this year and it will take 12 months to complete... other feeder roads in the Municipality would also be constructed under the Ministry's feeder roads system," he added.

He mentioned the Gwira Anyinase-Wiawso road, the Gwira Banso, Bamianko and Tebakrom feeder road and assured them of fixing the only steel bridge in the Gwira area, which had developed some faults.

The Minister therefore encouraged contractors to work on schedules adding, "Under the current Akufo-Addo- led Government, contractors who refuse to carry out projects they are paid to do would be made to face the full rigorous of the law".

The Western Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Afriyie noted that the construction of deplorable roads in the Western Region would inure to the benefit of the whole country.

He explained that the Region produced chunk of the country's natural resources and needed good roads to facilitate easy transportation of those resources to the market centres and for export.

The Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, Catherine Abelema Afeku, expressed gratitude to the President for honouring his promise to the people by fixing the deteriorating Axim town roads.

She however called on the contractor to employ local people, particularly the qualified youths to help create some employment and income within the Municipality.
