Education in Asante-Akim North District is set to receive massive boost as Adesua Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) mobilises resources to promote quality education in the district.
The Foundation, which focuses on raising standards of education in rural communities in the District, seeks to raise GHC 25,000.
00 to implement various educational programmes when school resumes in January.
Founded by Nana Adakabre Frimpong-Manso, the Adesuahene of Agogo Traditional Area, the Foundation has been facilitating stakeholder engagements to brainstorm on innovative ways to reach out to pupils in rural areas, while they stayed home due to COVID-19.
Nana Frimpong-Manso told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the organization had lined up series of activities to improve education in remote communities in 2021 to make up for the lost contact hours during the COVID-19 break.
The Foundation, he disclosed, had initiated processes to raise funds through donations from philanthropists both home and abroad to implement carefully designed programmes to promote teaching and learning.
He mentioned the distribution of over 10,000 exercise books, pencils, pens and crayons donated by some partners of the foundation.
"We shall also organize Independence Day Essay Competition for basic schools in March and award participants and schools that would excel in the competition", he said.
He said the Foundation would roll out a sensitisation programmme on menstrual hygiene for girls during which sanitary pads would be distributed to them as part of efforts to the deal with absenteeism among girls during menstruation.
To bring out the creativity in the pupils, he said, another competition on innovation and technology would be organized to unearth the talents of the children in addition to their academic potentials.
He pledged the commitment of the Foundation to work closely with stakeholders to mobilize resources to lift the standard of education within the Agogo Traditional Area.
He praised Nana Akuoko Sarpong, the Paramount Chief of Agogo Traditional Area for his continuous support for the foundation and called on other citizens to join hands with the Foundation to secure a better future for their children through education.
