The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has deployed 3,793, made up of 3,151 Enumerators and 642 Supervisors for the 2021 Population and Housing Census Data collection in the 18 districts of the Volta Region.
Mr Chris Amewu, Volta Regional Director of GSS, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said a little over 4,000 people were taken through training and that the 3,793 were selected based on their performance.
He said the first phase of the exercise, which constituted the identification of structures and assigning specific numbers to households located in a geographical space of the country, was going on smoothly.
Mr Amewu said the second phase would be a proper enumeration of individuals in various identified households based on a series of indicators such as demographics and socio-economic characteristics.
The Director said the enumerators and supervisors were equipped with necessary tools, including tablets, identification card, vest, bags and introductory letters to help fasten the collection and processing of the data.
He acknowledged the regional and district census committees for their cooperation and support for the exercise and urged them to continue with the good work.
Mr Amewu implored all enumerators and supervisors to stick to the rules and regulations underpinning the exercise to achieve a successful outcome.
He urged the public to avail themselves to be counted as the country needed reliable and accurate data to plan for development activities.
