The C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) has introduced new academic programmes to train the needed human capital for national development, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samson Abah Abagale, has disclosed.
They are Doctor of Philosophy degree in Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Master of Philosophy in Infectious Diseases and Immunology and Master of Philosophy in Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
Also, accreditation is being sought from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and Allied Health Professions council for the School of Medical Sciences (SoMS) to run Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology programme.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, Professor Abagale stated that the Allied Health Professions Council had granted approval for a BSc Health Information Management Programme which was currently being prepared by the School of Mathematical Sciences for submission for accreditation.

Although 3,020 students were offered admission, only 1,422 students made up of 1,016 undergraduates and 406 post-graduate students accepted and registered.
The Ag VC said the School of Computing and Information Services had also submitted three new programmes, namely MPhil in Information and Communication Technology, MSc in Information and Communication Technology and BSc in Information Systems for the accreditation process to begin.
He noted that although the university had infrastructure deficit, management was pulling resources to improve upon them, saying “management has engaged with GTEC, and a contractor is on site to construct a 400-bed hostel at the eastern part of the university”.
Additionally, he said some residential facilities at the western part were being fully remodelled and upgraded to be used by the School of Medical Sciences and School of Public Health and added that there had been some engagement with GETfund to make funds available towards the completion of all its projects.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university had structured and realigned academic programmes under 10 schools, notably the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS), School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), School of Physical Sciences (SoPS), School of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (SoSMTE) and School of Medical Sciences (SoMS).
The rest, he said, were School of Environment and Life Sciences (SoELS), School of Chemical and Biomedical Sciences (SoCBS), School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNW), School of Agriculture and School of Public Health, designed to drive the mandate of the university.
