The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Hon. Kingsley Agyemang, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, United Kingdom, aimed at expanding educational opportunities for students in his constituency.
The agreement, signed in collaboration with the Municipal Director of Education, establishes a strategic framework for cooperation between the UK-based university and Ghanaian educational institutions within Abuakwa South.
Key areas of focus include Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and postgraduate programmes, as well as enhanced research collaboration.
“This partnership marks a major milestone in strengthening UK-Ghana educational ties,” Hon. Agyemang said following the signing ceremony.
“It offers a new pathway for our students to access world-class education and equips our educators with modern skills and training to better serve the constituency.”
The MoU is expected to facilitate academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, faculty development programmes, and scholarships that will directly benefit students and teachers in the constituency.
Officials from DMU welcomed the agreement, describing it as a meaningful step toward deeper academic collaboration with Ghana and a shared vision of educational excellence.
The initiative is part of Hon. Agyemang’s broader agenda to invest in education as a tool for sustainable development in Abuakwa South.
