The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has reported progress on Ghana’s debt restructuring efforts reaffirming governments commitment to debt repayments. 

He said non-disclosure agreements have been signed with some commercial lenders, and the government has made two Eurobond payments totaling US$700 million to honor its external debt obligations.

"In line with Government’s strong commitment to honouring its debt service obligations, we made two debt service payments of about US$700 million to our Euro bondholders," he said.

Domestically, he said GH¢9.8 billion in coupon payments were made to DDEP bondholders in the first half of 2025, with GH¢3.6 billion capitalized. 

Additionally, Dr Ato Forson mentioned that GH¢1.1 billion was paid to non-tendered bondholders to clear outstanding 2024 obligations.

"Mr Speaker, on the domestic front, Government continues to meet its commitment towards the Domestic
bondholders."

"For the first half of 2025, a total of GH¢9.8 billion was paid as coupon to DDEP bondholders, of which GH¢3.6 billion was capitalised," he said.

"For the non-tendered bondholders, government paid a total of GH¢1.1 billion. This was the outstanding debt service as at 2024," he stressed.

The minister added that in the second half of 2025, GH¢10.2 billion is due in coupons for DDEP bonds and GH¢724.1 million for non-tendered bonds. 

"It is important to note that government remains committed to honouring its debt service obligations and has therefore made adequate preparations towards full settlement of all debt service in 2025 and beyond," he assured.
