The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced that the Bolgatanga District Court has issued an order prohibiting the planning, organisation, and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku.

The court order, issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, restrains the president and members of the 2025 Damba Planning Committee from going ahead with activities related to the festival.

According to REGSEC, the directive is intended to ensure peace and security in Bawku and its surrounding communities, where tensions have persisted in recent times.

The order will remain in force until further notice.
