The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly has donated 10 sewing machines worth five million cedis to ten needy girls who have completed their apprenticeship in dressmaking to enable them start their own businesses.
Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, District Chief Executive, donated the items to the beneficiaries at the fourth annual graduation ceremony of the Nyinahin Tailors and Dressmakers Association at Nyinahin.
He urged them not to keep the sewing machines under their beds but rather use them to acquire further skills to improve on their standard of living.
The DCE assured them that efforts would be made to enable them benefit from the community-based programmes under the micro finance scheme to expand their businesses.
Mr Owusu-Ansah stressed the need for them to honour their tax obligations so that the Assembly would generate funds to initiate more development projects in the District.
The DCE announced that the Assembly would soon embark on an intensive demolition exercise in the District capital to ensure proper planning and development.
