Mawums Limited, the contractor working on the new multipurpose Hajj Village at the Kotoka International Airport, has indicated that the project is about 55% complete.
The update was given during a tour of the facility by the Board and Management of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), led by the Member of Parliament for Builsa North and Board Chairman, James Agalga.
The contractor also assured the delegation that work is progressing steadily and the project will be completed before the end of 2026.
The Hajj Village project, spearheaded by GACL, forms part of efforts to improve the organisation of pilgrimage operations in the country while also creating additional non-aeronautical revenue streams for the company.
Strategically located near Kotoka International Airport, the facility is being developed as a world-class mixed-use complex to serve Hajj pilgrims and the general public throughout the year.
The project will feature six key amenities, including residential accommodation, a clinic, a dedicated Hajj terminal, conference facilities, recreational areas and office spaces
Beyond facilitating Hajj operations, the commercial components, such as the residential units, conference centres and sports facilities, will remain operational outside the Hajj season to ensure a steady and sustainable income for GACL.
