The National Identification Authority (NIA) is expected to create more than 120  jobs through the establishment of over 20 24-hour Prestige Centres across the country.

The initiative forms part of efforts to align NIA services with the government’s 24-hour economy agenda while making Ghana Card services accessible beyond regular working hours.

Executive Secretary of the NIA, Wisdom Kwaku Deku, disclosed this during a tour of the Authority’s first 24-hour Prestige Centre in Accra on Wednesday August 12.

He said two additional centres are scheduled to open in Kumasi this weekend, with more facilities expected to be established across the country through partnerships with private operators.

According to Mr Deku, the centres will operate in three shifts to provide continuous services, including first-time Ghana Card registration, replacement and updating of card details.

“We are opening about 20 centres and we hope to create over 120 employment opportunities through private entities who have applied for the NIA Prestige Centre,” he said.

Mr Deku explained that the initiative is intended to ensure that people who are unable to access NIA services during normal working hours can do so at their convenience, including weekends.

He said the Ghana Card has become an essential national document, making it necessary for the Authority to expand access to its services and prevent delays for people who need urgent replacements or updates.
