The Edikanfo Foundation (EPF) a Kumasi based
non-governmental organization has donated books worth 10 million cedis to the Ahensan M/A JSS in Kumasi.
The NGO has plans to provide 100 assorted books and 200 computers to eight schools and community libraries in the Asokwa constituency at the cost of two billion cedis.
The books donated include science, story, environmental studies and information
communication technology books.
Opanin Kwaku Kyei, Executive Director of the EPF who presented the books said it was the commitment of the organization to provide educational support, teaching and learning materials from basic to tertiary institutions to promote education.
Opanin Kyei said Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, MP for Asokwa who was present at the ceremony, was the first MP to have benefited from such initiative, which was a national programme to support MPs to develop their constituencies.
Mr Jumah urged the students to take active interest in reading to improve their scope and knowledge of learning.
He said his priority was education and promised to assist schools in his constituency to attain that standard.
Mr Godfred Amo, Headmaster of the school who received the books thanked the organization and the MP for the gift and promised to make judicious use of them to enhance teaching and learning in the school.
