Old students of the Boana Local Primary school in the Nkoranza District of the Brong-Ahafo region have presented GHC120 (1.2 million cedis) to the first head teacher who started a basic school in the area.
The beneficiary Mr. J.K Sarkodie is 85 years and a citizen of Jema in the Kintampo south district of the region.
Reverend Kubi Asuamah Yeboah, Minister in-charge of the Akumsa Domase Methodist Church led a five-member delegation of the old students to visit Mr. Sarkodie at his resident at Jema.
Making the presentation, Rev. Yeboah also the Nkoranza Deputy District Director of Education said the gesture was in appreciation to the beneficiary for bringing them up to grow to get gainful employment, which had made them useful citizens.
He said a number of the old students and products of Mr. Sarkodie had acquired higher education to enhance their livelihoods.
Rev. Yeboah cited Dr. Wiafe Ampofo a consultant of ABP consults in Accra and also a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as one of the old students of Boana Primary.
On his part, Mr. Sarkodie thanked the donors for the presentation more especially at the period of his old age and also recognizing the role he played in their upbringing and development.
He stressed the need for teachers to love their students and handle them with care and urged the youth to be self-disciplined, God fearing and show respect to the elderly to enhance their lifespan.
