Nii Amasah Namoale, Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon, on Sunday said the campaign to cultivate a healthy lifestyle through Regenerative Health must be embraced by all because it was important to building a productive work force.
Speaking at a day's health awareness programme by the Labone branch of the Church of Christ, he said, experience elsewhere had shown that Regenerative Health, which focussed on the preventive aspect of health, did not only reduce the cost of medical bills but also increase life expectancy.
He said: "It is important that Ghanaians check their eating habits by always ensuring that they eat healthy and clean foods especially in the wake of the recent influx of foreign food items on the markets".
"These days all sorts of things have flooded our markets and for me that explains why we should be more concerned about our lifestyle knowing what to eat, at what time and where to buy them," Nii Namoale said.
Mr Charles N. Odotei of the Church of Christ said the ultimate concern of Jesus Christ's healing ministry centred on the total well being of the individual in body, mind and soul, which could be attained through healthy living.
"Our Church believes it is only when the citizens are healthy that they will be able to contribute meaningfully their quota to the development of the nation," he said.
He said Ghanaians must be careful of their health because there were many people claiming to have found the solution or cure to all sort of sicknesses and diseases.
Mr Odotei said the so called "miracle workers" rather extorted money from people.
The Church organised a team of doctors who screened and treated free of charge over 130 people including Church members from Labone and its environs.
Prior to the exercise Dr Rofeh Elimelek, the leader of the medical team, educated the community on nutrition, healthy lifestyles, mother and child health and the importance of regular exercise.
