Mr Emmanuel Acquah Asante, Nkoranza District Best Cattle Farmer, has advised livestock and poultry farmers to ensure clean surroundings for their animals.
Mr Asante was addressing farmers after receiving his award at the District's celebration of the 23rd Farmer's Day at Akonkonti.
He deplored the practice by some livestock keepers, who allowed their animals to stray on the streets and caused nuisance in the communities.
Mr Asante explained that livestock keeping was a very lucrative economic venture and advised the farmers to attach great importance to their activities.
He called on farmers to adhere to advice by agricultural extension officers "who know more about modern methods of farming".
"Farming is a business and its operators must have vision of earning a living through it and attach the necessary importance to any type of farming they are engaged in", Mr Asante stressed.
Mr Asante called on the unemployed youth to go into farming to help to improve their living conditions.
