The Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof Mawutor Avoke, has advised teachers not to be overwhelmed by the initial challenges facing the implementation of new Educational Reforms Programme.
Instead they should regard the reforms as an opportunity to be innovative in their planning and implementation of teaching methods that would improve the quality of education, particularly at the basic level.
Prof Avoke said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Winneba on Monday.
He said with the increases in the enrolment in the schools as a result of the introduction of the reforms, the Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme, much was expected from the teacher to give off his or her best despite difficulties.
He expressed the hope that teachers would bring their rich knowledge gained during their training to help promote education, adding that time has come for teachers to exhibit quality professionalism in their work.
Prof Avoke appealed to teachers to come out with new ideas that would help the address some of the challenges and said "the new educational reforms require a revolution that takes place in the minds and hearts of teachers and students."
