Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, Amansie West District Chief Executive, has charged national service personnel to consider themselves as agents of development in their various communities.
He asked them to support activities aimed at improving the standards of living of the people.
Mr Kwakye-Adeefe was launching this year's the District National Service Week under the theme, "Consolidating Democracy in Ghana, The Role of the National Service Personnel", at Manso-Nkwanta at the weekend.
He urged service personnel to explain government policies and programmes to the people to enable them to be abreast with the times.
Mr Kwakye-Adeefe commended the service personnel for accepting postings to the area and said the assembly would provide them with decent accommodation and financial support to enable them help to develop the area.
Mr Kenneth Brempong, the District National Service Co-ordinator, said the personnel have been posted to the assembly, health institutions, the National Health Insurance Scheme and schools.
He said problems facing the National Service Scheme at the district included accommodation for personnel and means of transport for the monitoring and supervising of the personnel.
Mr Brempong appealed to the authorities to institute an award scheme for deserving personnel to encourage them to work hard.
