Bishop Emmanuel Botchwey, General Overseer of Christian Faith Church (CFC) International has called on women particularly Christians to play a leading role in the campaign to protect the peace and good image of the country especially during Election 2008.
He said women had been endowed with special God-given talents of wise counselling and feminine influence that they could use to protect peace and achieve harmony in the society.
Bishop Botchwey made the call when addressing the closing session of a five-day national conference of Faith Women's Movement (FAWOMO), women's wing of the church at Takoradi.
He noted that peace and harmony in the country were in the hands of God and women have the capacity to ensure peace in their communities, church and families.
"You can use your special God-given feminine influence to impress upon your husbands, fathers, uncles, sons and brothers to desist form violent attitudes and behaviours before, during and after Election 2008," he added.
Bishop Botchwey noted that the peace and harmony being enjoyed by Ghanaians was the envy of many nations therefore, it would be unacceptable to disturb such peace because of the desire of few people to win political power.
He appealed to all peace loving people to join hands with Christians to pray for peace and stand against violence in some parts of the country.
Bishop Botchwey expressed concern about the activities of false prophets who were employing demonic miracles to attract and defraud unsuspecting people mostly women who were eager to be rich and had all the blessings overnight.
He advised women to be wary of such prophets, pray and wait for God's blessings.
Pastor Dina Hackert of the United States branch of the Church asked women to lead lives worthy of emulation.
Reverend Mary Crentsil, National Women Co-ordinator, urged women to commit their lives to the Lord.
