The management of Zoomlion Company, a private Waste and Sanitation firm, has registered 90 people engaged under the Waste and Sanitation module of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in Sunyani Municipality under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) free of charge.
Mr Prince Abukari Siesu, Municipal Liaison Officer of the company, speaking to Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, said management paid GHC 25 as premium for each of them to the scheme.
He said the beneficiaries had received their identification cards and the registration was part of the company's corporate responsibility to enhance the health status of the youth engaged under the module.
Mr Siesu said management had in addition, distributed Wellington boots and rain coats to its workers and recruited site attendants to monitor refuse containers placed at vantage points against spill over.
He commended government for the establishment of NYEP and urged the youth engaged under the programme to work hard to sustain it.
Mr Siesu noted that initially most of the youth in the municipality were reluctant to be engaged under the waste and sanitation module of the programme but "now they have been coming to my office to be engaged after they realized its benefits".
