A second batch of 16 dressmakers made up of 12 females and four males in Asunafo North Municipality have taken project examinations held by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).
A first group had already taken the exams under the project initiated in the municipality by the Business Advisory Centre and is awaiting results.
This year, 45 artisans comprising nine garages, 16 dressmakers and 20 hairdressers are expected to be awarded certificates under the project.
Michael Boakye Yiadom, business development officer, told the Ghana News Agency that plans were advanced for garage operators to also take the exams.
He said acquiring the NVTI certificate was very vital as many people were refused work for not possessing the certificate although they had acquired practical skills.
"In this era of globalization, one cannot advance without a certificate," he said and urged interested apprentices and masters to contact the BAC so they could write the examinations.
Mr. Stephen Afreh, head of the BAC in the municipality, advised small scale businesses in the municipality to contact the Centre for the necessary assistance and advice.
