The United States condemned on Saturday the terrorist attack in the Pakistani capital Islamabad that reportedly left at least 60 people dead.
"The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack that took place in Islamabad, Pakistan, today," U.S. National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said in a statement.
"This is a reminder of the threat we all face. The United States will stand with Pakistan's democratically elected government as they confront this challenge," he said.
A blast occurred outside Marriott hotel in the center of Islamabad on Saturday evening. In addition to the dead, some 200 people were wounded in the massive explosion.
