Twenty-eight pupils, made up of 15 males and 13 females have constituted the pioneering class for the newly-opened Bishop Belany Academy at Dormaa Ahenkro.
The establishment of the school was facilitated by the Catholic Bishop of Sunyani, the Right Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi.
Management of the school is in the hands of the Belany Brothers with Brother George Luckose as first principal.
Performing the opening ceremony at Dormaa Ahenkro, Brother Luckose exhorted parents to support all programmes designed by government and non-governmental organisations towards the provision of quality education.
He noted that "global acclamation of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has placed additional responsibility on parents to make the necessary arrangements for their children, so that they can meet the growing challenges of contemporary society".
Brother Luckose said the Catholic Church was determined to turn out scholars who will respond positively to diverse demands and contribute adequately to the human resource base of the country.
Rev. Father William Kyeremeh, Dormaa Catholic Parish Priest, announced that the school, which has commenced in temporary premises in Dormaa Ahenkro, would be moved to its permanent site at Maaso where construction works are on-going.
He charged parents to take keen interest in monitoring the movements of their children during school days to ensure that they do what was expected of them during class hours.
