Mr Justice Francis Kwabena Opoku of the Sunyani High Court has urged farmers to attach great importance to farming as a business venture in order to improve their livelihood.
He urged the unemployed youth to take up farming rather than leading unproductive lives that could ruin their future.
Justice Opoku was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Bomini in the Nkoranza North District after being adjudged the third best farmer in the district to mark the 24th farmers' day celebration.
For his prize, Justice Opoku took away a bicycle, cutlasses, bars of key soap and a certificate.
He explained that farming was an honourable and rewarding profession "since life depends greatly on food," adding, "farmers receive a lot of blessings from God for feeding His people".
"I decided to combine farming with my profession as a legal practitioner and to appreciate the good works and efforts of farmers and also serve as a role model for the youth in my community," he added.
Justice Opoku urged farmers to be proud of their work and to intensify efforts to increase production to enhance national food security.
