Reverend E. H. Brew Riverson, an Educationist, has stated that, genuine development and progress can never come to Ghana if the citizenry do not participate in the governance process.
"If we think at any time that a particular government belongs to a specific political party and therefore are waiting till we get our party in, then, the country's growth will be stagnant", he noted.
The Minister drew Ghanaians attention to these in a release issued in Kumasi on Friday.
Rev. Riverson, a former Principal of the Wesley College (WESCO) in Kumasi, said, the attitude of indifference has become a curse for most developing countries, including Ghana and this had resulted in the country's falling behind their compatriots such as Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore, who were at the same economic level as Ghana some few years ago.
He stressed that, the indifference is as a result of greed, selfishness, lack of patriotism and pride as black Africans.
He therefore advised Ghanaians to throw their weight behind anyone of the Presidential Candidates who is voted into power since democracy is government for all.
The Educationist reiterated that, Ghanaians must be patriotic by paying taxes, desisting from under invoicing or over invoicing, not to consciously sabotage known policies as well as not putting up blatant distortions, among others.
He charged Ghanaians to be law abiding, support community schemes of afforestation, keep the nation clean and help to preserve the water bodies.
