A former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Mintah, has suggested to the government to appoint people with good education and accounting background as ministers and district chief executives.
Mr Mintah said for ministers and district chief executives to exert authority over their ministries and districts they need to have knowledge about how their accounts departments are managed.
Addressing NDC supporters at Winneba, he said some civil servants often took advantage of lack of knowledge of DCEs and ministers in accounting to exploit their assemblies and ministries.
"They are made to sign financial documents they do not understand thereby landing the assemblies and ministries into debt", he asserted.
Mr Mintah appealed to Ghanaians to be patient and give the government time to put things in place and appealed to NDC supporters to see the party's victory as a challenge for them to work hard to improve living conditions of the people.
"You must not regard the task ahead as a responsibility for the president, ministers and DCEs," he said.
