Mrs. Beatrice Lenu Archer, Managing Consultant
of Hospitality Solutions-Consultants in Total Hospitality Management, at the weekend, underscored the need for religious leaders to pray for the enabling Spirit of God to fill them with humility, courage, wisdom and joy, in order to fulfill the Great Commission.
She reminded them that, as Ministers of the Gospel, they would be failing in their duty to fulfill the commission if they did not go all out to make disciples of all nations.
Mrs. Archer made the call in Accra at a graduation ceremony organized for nine graduands of the Daystar Bible College (DBC), an Interdenominational Charismatic Bible School, after a one-year intensive programme.
The graduands, including two females, were awarded with Diploma Certificates in Bible Studies, after which they were commissioned to spread the Gospel.
Mrs. Archer commended the graduands for going through the training to know and understand better the Word of God, and urged them to be knowledgeable in other spheres of life as well.
"You should acquire wisdom and understanding; read widely and deeply to have experience in the affairs of men; dissect information from the media and carefully separate the wheat from the chaff."
She reminded the graduands that, in order to be useful and practising Christians, and to be a source of inspiration and positive influence on others, it was imperative for them to be people of faith who would let the Bible be their constant companion and guidance.
Mrs. Archer warned them against regarding the Bible as a story or textbook, but to treat it as the living word of God, meant to inspire them to righteousness and virtue; everyday of their lives.
She likened the training of the graduands from their tutors to that which Apostle Paul received at the feet of Gamaliel, and asked them to go forth
to the world as "a living water to a thirsty land."
While reminding them of their main business of saving and winning souls for Christ, Mrs Archer urged the new Ministers of the Word not to only humble themselves under the mighty hand of God, but to also do and say everything, related to everybody, all to the Glory of God in Christ Jesus.
The Reverend Jacob Vanderpuye, Head Pastor of Christ Home of Fellowship in Accra, assured the graduands that, in their bid to fulfill the Great Commission, Jesus would never forsake them.
Rev. Vanderpuye asked them to "pray by focusing on open heavens for their congregation, so that God would bless the works of their hands and make them prosperous."
Dr John Agyemang-Boateng, Founder and President of the College,
said the institution aimed at training effective leaders for effective ministry.
In his Annual Report, Rev Daniel Hyde Appiah, Principal of DBC, stated that one of the greatest challenges facing the College was funding, and urged public-spirited individuals and organizations to come to its aid.
Rev. Appiah advised the graduands not to be driven by personal gains, but by God's passion, adding that, they should be motivated by the Will of God and not man.
Mrs. Rosemond Bediako, Students' Representative, urged past students of the College to "come over to Macedonia and assist their alma mater with some of its basic needs."
More than 600 Ghana Cedis was collected in a fund-raising towards development projects at the College.
