Superintendent of Police Peter Akwasi Denteh, in-charge of Nkoranza district, has urged officers and men of the service to exhibit good morals to command respect from the public.
Mr Denteh was addressing a farewell party in his honour, organised by the police and people of Nkoranza at the weekend, on his retirement after 38 years of service.
"As peace officers, you should establish a cordial working relationship with the public, so you would receive relevant information that would enable you to protect the lives and property of the people," he said.
He cautioned them against bribery and corruption, stressing, "you should never aim at amassing wealth at the expense of other people, but rather work in conformity with the ethics of the profession".
Mr Denteh expressed gratitude to the people of Nkoranza for their support during his three years stay in the area and added that, he was also impressed at the way his staff encouraged him in his work.
He advised the people and the police to live in harmony, so that with joint effort they could help enhance the accelerated development of the communities.
The in-coming District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Daniel Afugu commended the Police for working as a team and supporting the out-going commander to promote the peaceful environment in the area.
Mr Afugu called for the collaborative efforts of the people and the police in combating crime.
The paramount chief of Nkoranza, Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV commended Mr Denteh for serving for 38 years and said it was a great blessing for a worker to retire from service, without any blemish and wished him God's blessings and success in his future endeavours.
Okatakyie Kudom stressed the need for other workers and police officials to emulate the example of the out-going police commander, so that they would also enjoy a peaceful retirement honour some day.
