The Winneba Magistrate Court has sentenced two persons to a total of 42 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a number of items belonging to Mr Kojo Kakrah from Winneba.
Kobina Ebo, aged 48 and Kweku Baidu, 29, pleaded guilty.
Ebo will serve 24 months, while Baidu will serve 18 months.
Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mr Ben Attabra, prosecution Police Chief Inspector Paul Adamah said the complainant, Mr Kakrah on March 16, 2009, locked the doors of his rooms near the Yeneua Hotel in Winneba and travelled.
Chief Adamah said the accused persons took advantage of the absence of the complainant, broke into his room and stole some electrical appliances and a cash of GH¢350.00.
He said the items they took away included an Amplifier, Woofei Speaker, 14 inch Colour Television set, 0ne DVD player, two Ekolac Bags, a Motorola Mobile Phone and an extension board all totalling about GH¢ 830.00.
Chief Inspector Adamah said when the complainant returned and detected that his door has been broken into and the items stolen, he reported the incidence to the Winneba police.
He said on March 18 2009, Ebo was found offering the Amplifier for sale at Sankro, a suburb of Winneba, where some good Samaritans who suspected the item to have been stolen challenged him.
Chief Inspector Adamah said Ebo later confessed to the 'good Samaritans' that he stole the machine and appealed for leniency, but the 'Samaritans' handed him over to the Winneba Police.
The prosecution said Ebo at the police station mentioned Baidu as his accomplished and he was also arrested.
Chief Inspector Adamah said when their rooms were respectively searched, the rest of the items were found except the mobile phone and the cash.
