A Ghanaian Bishop based in the United States of America (USA) was on Tuesday installed as Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of Bando, a community in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District of the Central Region at a colourful durbar.
Bishop Spanford Essilfie of the More Faith International Mission in New York, was installed the Nkosuahene for his immense contribution towards the development of the area.
He was given a chieftaincy title "Nana Tuakwa I" for the numerous assistance he provided the people of Bando after he had gone there for missionary work and discovered that it was a very deprived community.
Among others, Bishop Essilfie is assisting in educating some pupils and students and is currently constructing a modern hospital for the community.
He expressed gratitude to God and the chiefs and people of the area for the honour done him and accepted the challenge to work hard for the accelerated development of the area, saying, his focus will be on education, agriculture, vocational training, and culture.
Bishop Essilfie said the youth who had interest in auto mechanic would be assisted to undergo training while students would also go for exchange programs in the USA.
He thanked Reverend Errol E. Hunt and Rev David Naik, both missionaries from the USA, for their support in the acquisition of hospital equipment valued at $6,187,070.00 including an X-ray and ultrasound machine, machine for dentistry and medical supplies for the hospital.
Bishop Essilfie promised to foster good relationship between the City of Rochester, New York and Bando as sister cities to share their expertise for mutual benefit, if both parties agreed.
He said with the help of his missionary friends his vision to change the poverty status of the people in the Bando Community would be realised.
Nana Bokwei Takyi, Krontihemaa of Eguafo Traditional Area, who performed the installation ceremony, thanked Bishop Essilfie and the other missionaries for their support and asked for God's mercies to enable them to accomplish their mission for the area.
