The Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has organized a health screening exercise for its members at Nsawam in the Akuapem South District.
About 400 people were screened on a number of health related diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure and voluntary counselling and testing of HIV and AIDS.
Mr Hayford Asiedu, Director of Development and Social Services of the Akuapem Presbytery, said the exercise formed part of the church's social responsibility to its members and the society in general.
He said the exercise would be undertaken throughout the Presbytery before the end of the year.
Mrs Mary Asiedu, head of HIV and AIDS unit of the Koforidua Regional Hospital who led a team of medical professionals from the hospital and others from the Nsawam Government Hospital to conduct the screening, described the exercise as very fruitful and commended the church for organizing the exercise.
