Mr Andrew Petta, a seminarian of the Nashotah House Seminary, Wisconsin, USA, on Friday advised priests to teach their congregation how to grow spiritually.
He explained that, with such training, members of the congregation would not be depending on priests always for spiritual guidance and that would enable the priests to have more time for the study of the Bible to provide the required leadership to the congregation.
Mr Petta, part of a five-member team of the Sharing of Ministries Abroad (SOMA), a US Missionary group was speaking at a five- day retreat for reverend ministers of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church in Koforidua.
Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quarshie, Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, said the retreat was organized annually for members of the clergy in the diocese.
He said it provided the opportunity for reverend ministers to leave their parishes to stay together, learn together, and pray together and to have time with God.
The Director of the Diocesan Ministerial Education Centre, Vulnerable Felix Annancy, explained that, the annual retreat enabled the priests to examine their work, see if they were on the right direction and to chart new ways for their work.
