Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School Old Students' Tertiary Network (DZOPTNET), an offshoot of its Old Student Association (DZOPOSA), has organized a maiden graduation ceremony for finalists and sponsored prizes to deserving students.
Mr Godwin Kaledzi, Acting Headmaster of the School, thanked DZOPTNET and DZOPOSA for their initiative and efforts to their alma mater in improving school infrastructure, academic pursuits and motivation for staff and students.
He commended DZOPOSA for organizing a successful maiden homecoming that served as a point of encouragement and inspiration for students.
This, he said, had culminated in the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the school library, rewarding four members of staff, books donation and organized the best teacher award programme.
Mr Kaledzi praised Mr Kofi Dzamesi, a former Volta Regional Minister, for facilitating the construction of the school's assembly hall and girl's dormitory.
This notwithstanding, he said, the school is challenged by lack of an administration block, school bus, staff bungalows and classrooms and appealed to stakeholders to come to their aid.
Mr Kaledzi urged students to use appropriated avenues to channel their grievances and refrain from demonstrations that result in destruction of school property.
Dr Emmanuel Srofenyo, National President of DZOPOSA, said in an address read for him that funds had been procured for the rehabilitation of the Senior Housemaster's bungalow as well as the school gate.
He said the association was embarking on a revenue mobilization exercise to facilitate the improvement of general school infrastructure.
Dr Srofenyo appealed to graduating and continuing students to be guided by scholarship, leadership, citizenship and stand in good stead in all endeavours.
Mr Kingsley Mawunyo Amezando. President of DZOPTNET, said the innovation was their widow's mite and social responsibility to their alma mater.
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister represented by Mr Isaac Kodobisah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, called on Old Students' Association to emulate the sterling example of DZOPOSA and DZOPTNET to complement efforts of government for quality education and improved infrastructure.
He appealed to the students to eschew peer pressure, hooliganism, indiscipline, drug abuse, computer fraud, occultism and other immoral activities.
A total of 362 beneficiaries including 317 final year students, continuing students, friends of the School received honours, citations and certificates with Mathias Edetor and Julius Nyawuyi being adjudged the overall best and well-behaved students respectively.
