The Bibiani Magistrate Court has fined Afua Mercy, 24, Sister Ataa, 30 and Emelia Acquah, 29, all farmers from Sefwi Wenchi near Bibiani GH¢60 each for failing to pay a development levy of GH¢5.
They all pleaded guilty and in default would serve one month imprisonment each.
The court also ordered them to pay GH¢60 each to the Sefwi Wenchi Unit Committee.
Prosecuting, Mr. Kwaku Acquah of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso Bekwai District Assembly told the court that on October 17, 2007, the community held a general meeting to raise funds for some projects in the town.
Mr. Acquah said it was agreed that each male resident would pay GH¢10 whilst females would pay GH¢5 but the three refused to pay and were served with summons to appear before the court.
They refused to appear before the court and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest.
