Reverend Father Edward Baah-Baafi, an associate priest at the St. Mary Sanctuary Grotto at Buoho in the Ashanti Region, has urged fellow clergies to lead the crusade on indiscipline and immorality in the society.
He said it was important that they used the pulpit to fight these social evils that were taking firm root and destroying the lives of the youth.
He was delivering the homily at a thanksgiving mass held for Rev. Father Bright Appiagyei-Boakye, a newly ordained Catholic Priest for Sekyereduase.
He mentioned vices such as alcoholism, drugs addiction, sexual promiscuity, gambling and indecent dressing among the youth and said this should be a cause of concern for the church.
Rev. Father Baah-Baafi said pastors must have the courage at all times to speak the truth and denounce evil practices to save people from being perished.
According to him, it was time pastors stopped preaching what he termed "the gospel of materialism" and rather focused on behavioural change.
The Rev. Baah-Baafi asked the new priest to serve with humility and take personal interest in helping people out of their troubles.
The Rev. Father Appiagyei-Boakye expressed his gratitude to all his benefactors during his priestly training.
