An official of Action Aid, a non-governmental
organisation, has appealed to journalists at a workshop in the Upper EastRegion to report on development issues to promote its development.
The workshop was organized by Action Aid, an international NGO workingto empower the vulnerable was aimed at sensitizing the media on the rolethey could play to reduce poverty.
The Action Aid programme manager in charge of the Upper East Region,Mr. Michael Lumor, appealed to journalist to write on issues that wouldcombat the root causes of poverty.
He appealed to journalists to educate the public on climate change and negative practises that affect environment such as bush burning.
The Upper East Regional chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association, Mr. Eric Amoh, reminded the participants of their watchdog role
and said they should not allow politicians to entice them with money toforget the protection of the rights of the vulnerable.
Speaking on the code of ethics of the association, Mr. Amoh said journalist owed the region a duty to report on facts and information that would bring positive change, having in mind the interest of the state.
Mr. Amoh appealed to members to protect the good image of the association and to win more credibility for the profession.
