Nadia Buar a 26-year-old unemployed woman, who posed as Ghanaian actress and allegedly stole a piece of gold valued 10,000 Ghana cedis,was on Tuesday remanded by Accra Circuit court.
The plea of Ruth Dorbi also known as Naa Natasha was not taken and she would re-appear at court on November 11.
Police Inspector Sarkwah, told the court presided over by Mr. D.E.K. Darketse that the
complainant, Mr Sampson Opoku also known as Nana Antwi was an Obuasi-based trader.
He said sometime in 2006, Nana Antwi bought a Ghanaian movie in which Nadia featured and decided to contact the management of Venus films, the producers, and requested for Nadia's contact number to communicate with her.
Prosecution said the telephone number of Natasha was rather given to the complainant
and he started conversations with her thinking she was Nadia.
Insp Sarkwah said the complainant came to Accra in 2006 to visit Nadia but when Natasha answered the call, she told the complainant that Nadia had gone to Dodowa to stage another film and gave the complainant a different number as Nadia's best friend called Ruth and asked him (complainant) to call that number.
Prosecution said when the complainant called the new number, Natasha answered and directed the complainant to her house at Teshie where they met.
He said the complainant did not suspect any foul deal and introduced himself to Natasha
and later decided to return to Obuasi in the afternoon.
Insp Sarkwah said on another occasion, the complainant met Natasha who said Nadia had
travelled outside Accra and during conversation, the complainant expressed the desire to travel to London and Natasha promised to facilitate it.
He said Natasha assured the complainant that, she could invite him on one of her travels to the United Kingdom and on August 31, this year, the complainant came to Accra with a piece of gold valued at GHC10,000 and GHC1,000 cash to facilitate preparations for the journey.
Insp Sarkwah said on arrival in Accra, the complainant called Nadia's mobile number as
usual, and Natasha directed him to Lascala at Teshie and took the complainant to Next Door
restaurant.
He said Natasha told the complainant that Nadia had directed her (Natasha) to collect the
gold for testing to ensure that it was genuine but refused to allow the complainant to accompany her.
Insp Sarkwah said the following day, Natasha rang the complainant in his hotel and informed him that the gold was certified to be fake and had been arrested by the police for dealing in fake gold.
He said the complainant went to Natasha's house and was being briefed on the matter,
complainant became unconscious and was rushed to Manna Clinic at Teshie where he was admitted for two days.
Prosecution said the complainant reported the matter to the Nungua Police and Natasha was arrested.
