Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has asked students to be disciplined and hard working.
He asked students to avoid short cuts to success, and reminded them that admission to tertiary institutions had become more competitive.
Prof. Ellis made the call in an address read on his behalf at the 52nd annual speech and prize-giving day of Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School at Kumawu in the Sekyere Afram Plains District.
"Quality education, a tool for national development, the ICT factor", was the theme for the event.
The Vice Chancellor commended the school for discipline and academic excellence.
Prof Elis said quality education was necessary for national development and the improvement of lives of the people.
Mr. Anthony Wilberforce Nantwi, the Headmaster, said the academic performance of the school was impressive.
He said in 2011, the school scored 100 per cent in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination with about 85 per cent of students gaining admission into tertiary institutions and in 2012 about 93 per cent qualified for the various universities and other tertiary institutions.
Mr Nantwi appealed to individuals and organisations to support the school to acquire accommodation and potable water.
