Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, has expressed strong confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) back to power in the 2028 general election.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 19, Awuku praised the former Vice President’s leadership during periods of national and global hardship, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and amid global economic shocks.
“I believe Dr. Bawumia presents us with a very good opportunity to win 2028,” Awuku stated. “Some of us are of the unshaken belief that the difficulties we faced as a government over the last four years — the post-COVID era, economies around the world in turmoil, the global shocks and all — Dr. Bawumia did a good job.”
He further highlighted Bawumia’s resilience, leadership qualities, and integrity as reasons for his unwavering support.
“He stood in the gap for the NPP, and I believe in his personal achievement and records, his character, and the strength of his character, and the integrity that he also has,” Awuku added.
Awuku’s endorsement adds to the growing support for Dr. Bawumia’s bid to lead the NPP into the next presidential election cycle.
