Mr Robert Kutin Jnr, Central Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on prospective parliamentary aspirants to desist from campaigning before the approved period.
He said nominations for parliamentary primaries have not been opened by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP and any member who will flouts the rules and regulations could be disqualified.
Mr Kutin Jnr said this at the inauguration of the Nasara, Youth and Women’s Wings for Gomoa Central Constituency of the Party at Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Gomoa Central District.
He said currently the National and Regional Executives recognize only the sitting MPs and not those who were aspiring to contest positions.
This, he said, was to ensure that sanity prevails in the forth coming parliamentary primaries.
The Regional Chairman said any polling station executive who involves himself in the campaign of an aspirant would equally be sanctioned and urged them to rally behind the sitting MPs and DCEs to make the Party stronger in the region.
Mr Kutin said the Party must be considered supreme at all times and urged prospective aspirants not to create problems at the various constituencies to enable NPP win massively in the 2020 general election.
He said the inauguration of the wings will be done in all constituencies in the Regional to revive activities at the polling stations, adding that NPP will need to intensify its work with all seriousness to win more supporters.
Mr Kutin said the Regional Executives would soon embark on auditing of the work of polling station executives to assess the strengths of the party.
He said after inaugurating the various wings of the Party, the regional executives would push for an agenda to enhance its strategies to defeat NDC again in 2020.
Mr Kutin commended Mrs Naana Eyiah Quansah, MP and Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central, for their hard work that has led to the transformation of the constituency.
Mrs Quansah expressed confidence and trust in the three wings that had been inaugurated and urged them to work as a team to increase votes in the area.
The MP urged the supporters to bury their political differences adding that the good economic policies and programmes being pursued would help to change the voting pattern in the Gomoa Central Constituency.
She said her share of the MP’s Common Fund has been used to support various initiatives in the Gomoa Central Constituency.
She said the initiatives could be found in the education sector, community centre development and health; as well as apprenticeship support in dressmaking amongst others.
Again, 200 widows have been selected to be assisted with financial support, cloth and the education of their children to help improve their living conditions.
Mr Otoo said 200 graduates have been employed by Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) and over 46 youth have also been recruited in the Community Policing as part efforts to create jobs for the youth.
He said under the two years administration of the Akufo-Addo government, infrastructural development has been done in all communities in the Gomoa Central District and urged the public to support government to succeed.
