Ghana has been commended for her long standing friendship and support for the people of Palestine.
"We thank the President and government of Ghana for the unwavering historical support to the Palestinian people, which include your vote in favor of Palestine, in sessions of the UN right council."
Mr Abdel Fatah Alsattari, Ambassador of the state of Palestine to Ghana, said this in Accra, at a reception to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
He said the state of Palestine was aware that Ghana stood by the side of the truth and the establishment of protection of justice and human rights for Palestine and all other persons.
Mr. Alsattari recalled that in 1948, 78 percent of Palestinian lands were occupied by Israel, followed by another Israeli occupation in 1967, during which Israel "snatched" all Palestinian lands.
He said it was done amidst killings and several acts of disrespect towards the Palestinian people, which contravened international resolutions.
Mr Alsattari said the only demand by the Palestinian people, was an end to Israeli occupation, and end to killing of innocent people and a return of expelled Palestinians to their land.
"The only solution to this conflict is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on lands occupied by Israel in 1967, including; East Jerusalem, the capital city of Palestine, as accorded international resolutions," he said.
In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29, as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The Resolution on the observance of the day, urged member states to lend as much recognition and publicity to the day as possible.
