He said judging by the disastrous and abysmal performances of the NPP Minsters and appointees, which have plunged the country’s economy to its lowest ebb, it has become clear that the NPP lacked personnel to successfully administer the country in all aspect of governance.

 Inaugurating three committees of the NDC Professional Forum (ProForum) in Accra last Friday, former President Mahama observed that looking at the array of professionals and experienced personalities paraded for membership of the various committees, there was “absolutely no doubt that the NDC has qualified and seasoned personnel for the task of salvaging the country when given the opportunity”.

He described the NDC ProForum as the youngest organ of the Party, but has proven itself to be most dynamic and active in its relatively short period of formation, and looked forward to its ratification at the next congress of the Party for it to be fully recognised as an affiliate of the NDC.

The NDC Presidential candidate for the 2020 national elections said with the kind of preparations and strategies being outlined by the ProForum in collaboration with the Party, there can only be a landslide victory for the NDC in the 2024

Presidential and Parliamentary elections, and the victory would be so massive that Jeane Mensah and the Electoral Commission would have no choice than to declare the NDC winners at the end of the contest.

He was of the belief that the ProForum would be at the service of the NDC in assembling and training qualified Party Electoral Agents for the 2024 Elections, and that it was the responsibility of the Party to police the elections from the polling centres right through to the collation offices and the EC headquarters.

In an address, the Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who chaired the function, assured the gathering that the chances of the NDC in the 2024 general elections were getting brighter by the day, and that the process of recapturing power by the NDC started right from the day the Supreme Court gave its ruling in favour of the NPP, which has led to proper diagnostic and effective ways to redress shortfalls.

He reiterated that the NDC as a Party was vehemently against the Electoral Commission’s desire to use the Ghana Card as the only identifiable means for election 2024, and that the Party would fight and use all possible legal means at its disposal to ensure a level playing field for all, especially as the National Identification Authority (NIA) has made it clear that it does not, in its current state, have the capacity and capability to register all Ghanaians before 2024.

Mr Ampofo was full of praise for the ProForum for its organisational abilities and the numerous activities put in place to help salvage the country from its current doldrums.

Oh his part, the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the Party recognises the efforts of the ProForum, which has come at the best of times and wished it well in its good intentions.

The President of the NDC ProForum, Mr Sam Pee Yalley, otherwise known as Nana Barimah Kwame Tawiah, the Abranehen of Edina Ampenyi in the Central Region, explained that the three Committees have been put together in response to a call by the former President, DramaniMahama, at the Forum’s recent conference in Ejisu.

He said the Forum has produced an Electoral Manual for use by Party Agents as well as other strategic documents for purposes of putting the NDC in proper position in its efforts to being the needed alternative to the disappointing NPP administration.

Other dignitaries at the event included Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the NDC Vice Presidential running mate in the 2020 elections and former Minister of Education, Mr Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff under the previous NDC government, and Dr Koma Jehu-Appiah, Secretary General, and Mr Raymond Anamu, Director of Operations of the ProForum.

The NDC Professionals Forum is a body of Professionals and Ex-government Officials in previous NDC administrations with the aim of assisting and solidifying the NDC in its efforts at recapturing power and providing enlightened, dignified and purposeful leadership for the country.
