The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has warned that the repeated rejection of nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions could stall development in the affected areas.
Her comments follow the failure of the Ada East District Chief Executive nominee to secure the required two-thirds majority vote.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, on May 8, 2025, the Minister encouraged nominees to actively engage assembly members ahead of the confirmation process to improve their chances.
“If you delay the confirmation, you delay development and progress. They have started a lot of improvements. If the DCE is at the post, he can lobby for some of the assembly members to be employed.
“But if the DCE is not at post, they will pass it through either the district coordinators or another place, which will delay,” she said.
