The Appointments Committee of Parliament has commenced the vetting of the first batch of Presidential nominees for Ministerial appointments without members from the Minority.
The first three nominees, Mr Seth Terkpeh, Minister designate for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Ms Hannah Tetteh, Minister designate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr Collins Dauda, Minister designate for Water Resources, are facing the Majority members of the Committee chaired by Mr Ebo Barton Oduro, First Deputy Speaker and member for Cape Coast North.
Alhaji Ibrahim Gombila, Deputy Clerk to Parliament gave the assurance that quorum required to begin vetting had been met and the Committee could begin its work.
Mr Barton Oduro said no official information had been received from the Minority about their absence, and expressed the hope that the group would rescind their decision in the interest of the nation and attend the subsequent vetting sessions.
The minority on Tuesday indicated its intention not to participate in the vetting exercise, citing the case before the Supreme Court in which three leading members of New Patriotic Party (NPP) are challenging the validity of the 2012 presidential election result.
They argued that their participation will be hypocritical since they were contesting the legitimacy of the President in court.
