Prime Minister Stephen Harper shuffled 10 cabinet members on Tuesday, tapping Stockwell Day to lead the Treasury Board and shifting Lisa Raitt from Ministry of Natural Resources to Ministry of Labour.
None of the major ministers, including Finance Minister James Michael Flaherty, National Defence Minister Peter Gordon MacKay and Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, were changed.
The shuffle, described by the prime minister's office as a "fine-tuning," came as the Parliament remains prorogued until March 3.
Harper's shuffle was in preparation for a Speech from the Throne and the implementation of Phase II of Canada's Economic Action Plan, the prime minister's office said in a news release.
"Just as it was this past year, our priority in the new session of Parliament will continue to be rapid and effective implementation of Canada's Economic Action Plan to benefit communities, workers and businesses," Harper was quoted as saying.
The new cabinet members are President of the Treasury Board Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Works and Government Services Rona Ambrose, Minister of International Trade Peter Van Loan, Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews, Minister of Labour Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources Christian Paradis, Minister of Veterans Affairs Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of National Revenue Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Seniors) Diane Ablonczy and Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism) Rob Moore.
