The New Abirem Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the barricading of the office of the Birim North District Chief Executive and that of the
Co-ordinating Director and called on the police to track down those involved and deal with them.
Speaking to the media at New Abirem on Tuesday, the Constituency Secretary of the party, Mr Daniel Odzeyem, denied the involvement of the party in the issue.
He said the party had procedures for resolution of differences among its members and so the branch would not engage in any activity that would
negatively affect the image of the party in the constituency.
Earlier, the District Co-ordinating Director, Mr Owusu Ansah, had told a fact finding committee from the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the NDC that he was informed on Tuesday morning that an unidentified person had used wood to barricade the door leading to his office and the door of the District Chief Executive, Mr Napoleon Adomako Asiamah.
He said he reported the incident to the police who came to conduct an initial investigation and then had the bars behind the doors removed to
enable him get access to his office.
Mr Ansah said nothing was taken out of the office and explained that it rained the previous evening and so almost all the workers of the assembly left the office by 1700 hours and by the time the night watchmen came to work at 1800 hours the doors were already barricaded.
The police confirmed the story and said they were still investigating.
