The Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ashanti Region, has indefinitely suspended the Regional Organiser, Mr Kennedy Kankam over alleged unsavoury remarks deemed harmful to the unity and image of the party.
A letter to this effect, sent to him and signed by Mr Samuel Pyne, Regional Secretary, said the decision was in conformity with Article 3 (f) 1, 2 of NPP's Constitution.
The Committee directed that Mr Kankam should deposit all party documents and property in his possession at the Regional Secretariat by Friday, April 23.
His suspension according to the letter took effect from Tuesday, April 20, and said, any revocation of the decision would be communicated to him.
Mr Kankam was referred to the Disciplinary Committee following a complaint brought against him by Mr George Ayisi Boateng, a founding member
of the party in the region.
Mr Ayisi Boateng had complained that offensive remarks the suspended organiser allegedly made on some FM radio stations in Kumasi were "intended
to create disunity, confusion and public ridicule of the party".
It also "aimed at maligning the reputation, image and dignity of the 2008 presidential candidate of the party and all members of the party alike", and therefore, demanded that the regional executive investigate and take the necessary disciplinary action against Mr Kankam.
