The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, has rallied support for district assemblies, urging people to unite behind them to implement their development agenda.
He said the assemblies should be assisted to improve on their revenue generation performance and to block all leakages.
Mr Opoku-Manu was addressing a durbar held in his honour at Nyinahin by the chiefs and people in the Atwima-Mponua district.
He asked for understanding and co-operation with the revenue collectors in the performance of their duty to collect tolls, rates and licenses in the various communities.
He said there should not be any illusion that the assemblies' capacity to provide development projects was dependent on the strength of their
finances.
The Regional Minister repeated government's determination to make life better for all Ghanaians and appealed for patience as it worked hard to
transform the economy.
The Mills Administration, he said, was conscious of its responsibility to the people and would not disappoint the nation.
He called on people in the area to work together to maintain the prevailing peace and avoid conflicts.
Mrs Theresah Adomako Tawiah, the District Chief Executive, spoke of efforts they were making to create the right environment to promote effective
teaching and learning in schools.
She said it was constructing classroom blocks, teachers' accommodation and supply of school furniture.
