The Central Committee of the Convention People's Party (CPP) last week-end, held a meeting at Ho in the Volta Region, to solve the over two-year impasse in the Region.
The impasse has led to several court actions and non-functioning regional executives.
A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, General Secretary of the Party said "The CPP wishes to make it clear to its members and the public that this matter has now been resolved".
It said as a consequence of a resolution passed at the meeting attended by all constituency executives as well as many prominent members of the Party in the Region, the last legitimate Volta Regional Chairman, Prince
Ahiadzro and the Volta Regional Executive Committee are to hold a regional conference to elect new regional officers before Saturday, July 17.
"This exercise is to be carried out in collaboration with the National Organiser, National Women's Organiser and National Youth Organiser," the statement added.
It said in addition, Prince Ahiadzro was directed to withdraw all outstanding matters in court relating to the Volta Region CPP by Friday,
April 23.
The statement said "the CPP wishes to make it clear that the on-going exercise to review the Party's constitution shall be completed in April".
It said a National Executive Committee shall be held soon to discuss many important issues, including the schedule towards an early National
Delegates Congress to elect new executives.
In the meantime, the statement said party members should take note of a recent Central Committee decision, which reiterated that any act deemed to bring the party's name into disrepute was a disciplinary offence and shall not be tolerated.
"In this regard, the decision called for an immediate ceasefire in the war of words and public exchanges between former CPP flag-bearer
contestants, former national officers, current national executives and other party members," it added.
