Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday affirmed Sudan's commitment to supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, reported
official SUNA news agency.
The Sudanese president made the affirmation when he welcomed on Sunday Palestinian president's envoy Jibril Rajoub.
Bashir stressed Sudan's support to all factions of the Palestinian people to enhance their essential roles in the reconciliation to achieve national
interest.
On his part, Rajoub said he conveyed to Bashir congratulations of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people over his winning in the recent presidential elections.
"I have acquainted President Bashir with the stance of Fatah movement towards national reconciliation with Hamas movement according to a national
comprehensive concept," Rajoub was quoted as saying.
He further expressed appreciation of the role of Sudan in supporting the Palestinian cause and in working to broker an accord that unites the
Palestinians, said the report.
